RESIDENTIAL CARE WORKER

Part time and Casual Positions
ROLE

The role of the Residential Care Worker is to supervise and facilitate the daily activities of the residents in relation to their individual goals and plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends and nights

  • Household maintenance, laundry and meal planning/preparation.
  • Adhere to EPIC/SMILE Residential Duty Roster
  • Adhere to EPIC/SMILE’s Policies and Procedures
  • Adhere to Manitoba Residential Care Licensing Manual
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be minimum 18 years of age
  • Must possess a Class 5 Driver’s License and be able to drive anywhere
  • Communication in English, both written and verbal
  • French would be an asset but not necessary
  • Must possess Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Must possess Criminal Record Check
  • Must possess St. John’s Emergency First Aid or equivalent
  • Must be able to maintain good positive working relations with others
WAGES
  • As per union agreement

CLASS 3 & 5 + Air Brakes DRIVER – Casual

Desired qualifications:
  • Must possess a Class 3 & 5 + Air Brake Endorsement Driver’s License
  • Communication in English both written and verbal
  • Must possess Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • Must possess Criminal Record Check
  • Must possess St. John’ Emergency First Aid or equivalent
  • Must be able to maintain good positive working relations with others
  • Must be inclined to work with people with intellectual disabilities

Duties:
  • Must be capable of driving Recycling Truck with Compactor or Cube Van
  • Casual shifts. Hours vary from 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Must be physically capable operating truck with compactor

JOB POSTING – CLASS 4 DRIVER(CASUAL)

Desired qualifications:
  • Must possess a Class 4 Driver’s License

  • Must obtain a successful completion of Adult Abuse Registry Check and Criminal

  • Must be physically capable of assisting clients in and out of van
  • Must be able to use wheel chair lift in order to support individuals using walkers or
    wheel chairs in and out of the van

Full time – Direct Service Worker (Day Program)

70-80 Hours Bi- weekly
Desired Qualifications

Inclined to work with people with intellectual disabilities
Positive attitude and team player
Must regard participants and co-workers with respect and dignity
Must adhere to the Agency Guide to the Vulnerable Persons Act
Must obtain a successful completion of Criminal Record & Child Abuse Registry Checks
Communication in English, both written and verbal
Good knowledge of French an asset
Emergency First Aid
Must have valid class 5 Driver’s License
Knowledge in Feeding/ feeding tube, Toileting, Wheelchair lift/Hoyer lift, Transferring would be an asset
Willing to work in all departments of the day program when needed
(Woodworking/Recycling/Packaging/Sewing)

Duties

Provide support on a 1 on 1 basis or small group of individuals with intellectual disabilities
Help in the use of appropriate supports & resources needed for communication (reading/writing/use of
communication devices) including proper use of the equipment
Ensure Health & Safety of individuals
Provide physical support in personal care & daily living skills (including toileting/feeding/attending to
personal needs)
Must be able to take and apply directions given by the department lead hand and manager and implement
them in daily tasks paying attention to details
Understanding of the need to prioritize work/contracts, and the personal goals and needs of the participants
Must be able to multitask and assist with other roles/jobs as needed
Report any work or participant related incidents to the lead hand or manager
Abide by the WSHA safety regulations

Permanent Full Time Supervisor/Trainer – Kitchen

Making adjustments to accommodate clients with specific diet and health concerns
Setting up the work station
Able to withstand long hours of standing, bending, and moving around
Must be able to follow recipes, make shopping lists, purchase necessary ingredients
Ensure that the kitchen and dining area are free of spills and that the area is sanitized

Duties

Under the direction of the Manager, to organize, co-ordinate and assist in the work of participants engaged in designated work as part of their training adjustment and development.

Full Time Trainer-Supervisor/Maintenance

70 Hours Bi-Weekly

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Must be very patient and understanding with participants.
  • Ability to solve basic problems that may arise on the job.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner and be able to prioritize important work.
  • Ability to organize calendars and appointments especially in relation to regular required maintenance.
  • Ability to multitask and juggle a variety of appointments and requests at one time.
  • Ability to work in various areas of the building and perform many different functions to keep the buildings in good standing.
  • Ability to operate saws, and other woodworking machinery.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance of the buildings and equipment to ensure they are maintained properly.
  • Maintain and carry out a calendar of monthly and annual equipment checkups or repairs, such as furnaces filters, and A/C units
  • Perform general aesthetic up keep which could include painting, basic carpentry, and landscaping
  • Ensure alarm system are functioning properly and responding when there are issues.
  • Be willing and able to work in any department recycling, wood working, packaging.

Starting Date: June 2022
